this mixer is larger and more heavy duty

The capacity is greater and the lifting mechanism is great for mixing and adding to the bowl while mixing. The mixer is very powerful

This one has a wide bowl compaired to the older bowl. On most od thr older ones the head lifted out of the bowl where this on the bowl is what moves . Also a bit more power than the standard home kitchen aid.

This one is more heavy duty and will probably last even longer than 10 years. No real differences in "how" it works... it's just built sturdier since it's designed for a professional kitchen.
