QuestionWhat is going on with the auto shut off? I expect the Pro 500 series 3 colors to be the same. Did comparison of the 3 after seeing the red was the only in store door buster and it says silver has no auto shut off? Only black & red? Colors differ??

- Answer From my brief time owning my mixer I find that the attachments for the 5qt do not fit my machine. However the attachments for the 6qt machine do fit my machine. I believe that's the difference between the 5 qt machine and the 5 plus.

- Answer No. This mixer has posts that lock the mixing bowls whereas the Artisan lock in at the base. You can use the same attachments and beaters, paddles, hooks and whips.

QuestionDoes this mixer work with smaller batches? We just returned a KitchenAid Pro 600 because it would not mix small batches effectively. I tried it for cookies and breadsticks and both the ingredients stuck to the bottom without being mixed.

- Answer I use it for everything. Make sure you are using the flat beater, not the whisk. Also make sure the bowl is attached in the back to keep it level. Otherwise the beater will scrape the bowl and not mix correctly.
