The sub-woofer can be placed up to 50 feet from your speaker. It has its own on off switch and will sync with the speaker when you turn on the TV it is connected to.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Both the Soundbar and the sub-woofer go from sleep mode to on automatically when I turn on the TV (Sony Bravia). When I turn the TV off, both the Soundbar and the sub-woofer automatically go into sleep mode but with the sub-woofer taking a few extra minutes to do so. To confirm that each item is in sleep mode, an indicating light on both the soundbar and the subwoofer changes from green (soundbar) and blue (sub-woofer) to orange. This is a nice feature of the Klipsch.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My sub-woofer is 10 feet from the soundbar, and works well. The sub-woofer has it's own on/off button located on it -- so doesn't have to be on if you are watching sports or normal TV shows -- and then turn it on for movies, etc. Only problem we had was trying to use the Blue-tooth wireless function with the soundbar system -- the audio was not in sync with the television lips -- the sound lagged like a bad movie... but we have our soundbar under the television so we used the wire hookup instead. Ask the Best Buy sales person what's up with this...
