  • QuestionInstalled the LaCross Technology-Battery Operated Wireless Digital Thermometer and the outdoor sensor is not working properly. It displays a temperature that is approximately 10 to 15 degrees too high. Tried three different locations and all were off.

    • Answer What brand of batteries are you using? We do not recommend any heavy duty, lithium brand batteries or rechargeables. If you leave sensor near indoor display (test for over 1 hour) do they read near the same? It may be possible the display picked up another sensor's transmission. You may restart (remove all batteries from sensor and display. Press any button on display to remove residual electrical current. Install fresh batteries into sensor first, LED light will illuminate. Install fresh batteries into display and Do Not Press any buttons for approximately 15 minutes while transmission is completing. Are temperature readings show almost same (there is a variance of 2 degrees +/- so they would not be identical.) You may try Accuracy test: https://lacrossetechnology.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4404296075931-Side-by-Side-Accuracy-Test Distance, Resistance and Interference When deciding on a location for your remote sensor there are a number of factors to keep in mind: Do not mount on a metal fence. This significantly reduces the effective range. Do not mount near electrical wires, transmitting antennas or other items that will interfere with the signal. Any obstacles, such as walls, windows, stucco, concrete or large metal objects can reduce the range of the signal. Position the display inside the house away from electrical devices such as computers, TVs or routers, as these can interfere with the signal. Sensors should be mounted vertically to allow condensation to drain. For best transmission, sensors should be mounted at least 6 feet above the surface.
