• I had exactly the same question. Here is what I found from Lenovo website: Can the Lenovo Smart Display make calls? Yes it can. With help from your Assistant, you can directly call a phone number over PTSN (plain old telephone service). Or, make video calls with Google Duo.

• Yes you can make calls but at the time of this post you cannot receive. Video calls use Google's Duo service. Regular calls work also and you have the option to add the number associated to your Google account to the caller ID for the device. Calls commands are locked to your voice. If it doesn't recognize your voice, it will not allow a call to go through.
