The Desktop comes with 4gb RAM, utilizing only one of two available RAM slots. Therefore, to have a total of 16gb RAM, you can remove the 4gb and use a single 16gb module in one slot, or add two 8gb modules. When upgrading my system, I used "Crucial" brand, but there are many other brands of RAM that also work very well.
