I haven't had that problem and would say its a defective unit and you shouldn't have waited So long to have it serviced. lenovo offers better extended warranties than Best Buy Total Tech and Some plans include a tech coming to your home and fixing it Versus having to send it off. My lenovo Yoga 730 needed a new keyboard, mother board, battery, and I made them replace the generic OEM wifi card because they were all garbage, and the power supply...the only thing that wasn't replaced was the display screen and I never want a day without my laptop So worth extra $ 80 to $100 for premium extended warranty.

You mention that the screen goes black, mainly when you are using the Microsoft Word APP. Be sure that you have not installed a second copy of Microsoft Word onto the computer. There is already a copy of Microsoft Office 365 installed on this computer as a part of the Windows 10 Operating System. If you already have a subscription to Office 365, you can just sign in using your current User Name and Password within the copy of Office 365 already installed - No additional software need be installed. If you are activating a new Office 365 subscription or if you have purchased a new Microsoft Office License, you do not need to install any software. Just go into the installed copy of Office 365 within Windows 10, input the Product Code that comes with your new License and you will be able to activate your license that way. If you have installed a second copy of the Office software, you will need to uninstall that copy to avoid having the black screen issue continue. Here is a link to instructions for uninstalling a program from Windows 10: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uninstall-or-remove-apps-and-programs-in-windows-10-4b55f974-2cc6-2d2b-d092-5905080eaf98. Restart your computer after the uninstall and the black screen issue when you open Microsoft Word should be gone. If the issue does continue, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support for additional help at: 877-453-6686.
