An air purifier does not circulate air in the same way a fan does. Instead, it works by drawing air from the room through its vents, passing it through a 3-stage filter to remove particulates such as dust, allergens, bacteria, smoke, and odors. After filtration, the purified air is pushed out of the top of the unit by an internal fan. While the air purifier does move air, its primary function is to clean the air rather than to circulate it throughout the room like a fan.
