I would say you need to contact LG and ask them that question. Looking at the install directions for set up it clearly states the minimum amount of space required around the sides, back, and top of the microwave. I do not think this particular microwave is suited for that type of install. I think to install a microwave above a stove you need to buy a unit that is made to be installed above stoves in confined spaces. You want to be sure that you are not creating a fire hazard by not having suitable ventilation around the unit.

This model is not an over-the-range design. It's meant for counter top location.
