W are not clear if what you are referring to as the "timer" is the clock, but the microwave has a Kitchen Timer function that has a touch button on the control panel labeled 'Kitchen Timer' that you can set up to 99 minutes, 99 seconds by pressing the 'Kitchen Timer' button then entering your time in minutes and seconds. To turn the sound of the beeper On/Off, you would need to use the 'Custom Set' button that provides four modes that you can select, Sound On/Off, Clock ON/Off, Scroll Speed or LBS/KG.To turn the beep sound back on, touch the Stop/Clear button followed by the Custom Set button then 1 and then touch 1 again.
