• Yes, the freezer icemaker can be turned off. There is a power switch on the icemaker. ^Daphane

• Yes. I called LG customer service about the same thing. There is an on/off switch just above the freezer ice bucket. Once turned off, it will cycle out the remaining ice in the freezer. Give it a day to completely cycle through. I left the bucket in the freezer and placed small frozen items in it.
