Yes it can hold magnets but I made the mistake of placing a note on the fridge and it caused a scratch. I would suggest you use the sides of the fridge which are not stainless steel for your magnets instead of the front.

The sides are magnetic; the front may not be magnetic because it has a smooth texture. ^Daphane
