I had the same situation and was told no. I checked numerous sources and was given different answers at first. But apparently they are slightly different sizes ( It does look different). LG said no. The delivery people apparently have been instructed not to put the new washer on the old pedestal for safety reasons. Good luck.

There is some small margin for a less-than-exact fit, as well. The pedestal installation instructions will also show you has the pedestal is attached to the washer, so you can separate them.

I did the measurements on mine because I had a similar situation and the pedestal dimensions were almost identical, so I just purchased the washer. When BB came out to install it, they told me the holes to mount it do not line up so I had to purchase the newer pedestal.

The WDP3W pedestal from your older LG washer has the same width and similar height as the WDP6W, but compatibility may vary due to design updates. For the best fit and stability, we recommend using the WDP6W pedestal, which is designed specifically for the WM6500HWA. https://www.lg.com/us/appliances-accessories/lg-wdp6w-pedestal-storage-drawer If you need further assistance, please send us a private message on social media @LGUSSupport, and we'd be happy to help! —Renzo
