• No it's not going to help you if you get a leak because it is an enclosed box with the draw if you have a leak it will not go in your draw

• Probably not. The pedestals are actually storage drawers attached to the bottom of the appliances. The pedestals make the units taller. They are great for storing linen and other items. The drawers are not tall enough to store large fabric softener or detergent bottles.
