Hi Leanna. A converter box does not give you the capability to record Over-the-Air (OTA) TV shows on a TV. It is needed for TV that do not have built-in tuners. You don't need one with the LG 28 inch Class HD TV (27.5'' Diag), Model # 28LM400B-PU because it has a built-in ATSC tuner which allows for the reception of OTA broadcasts when you attach an antenna to the F-Type, 75-Ohm, coaxial connector on the back of the TV labeled as "Antenna/Cable-In". You cannot record TV shows on a TV, you need a DVR for that which has a hard drive with storage capacity to save the recorded TV show in so you can play them back on the TV...^IFV
