I think the LG rep was assuming you would be using the mount / stand that comes with it - then it can't be rotated as she said. However, if you use a different mount and put it say on a wall, then you CAN use it vertically by just flipping the output 90degrees using the OS to do so. (Windows and many Linux versions support this. I haven't tried it on a MAC though.)
