I'll throw out a guess: My folks have a front loading Maytag set that is 8 or 9 years old. The soap drawer needs rinsed out and dried occasionally to keep from getting gummed up and not dispensing. Our LG has some clear water in the bleach and softener trays after the loads are done also. I'm thinking they will stay clean longer.
