If you’ve forgotten to add an item or need to remove foreign objects like coins or keys after the
cycle has started, the best time to do so is while the Add Garment indicator is on. Press the Start/Pause button. The cycle pauses and the lid unlocks. Open the lid, add garments or remove foreign objects, and close the lid. Press the Start/Pause button to resume the cycle. The cycle continues automatically. ^Daphane

You hit the pause button, but you are only allowed to do this early on, like while filling or during the water level sensing operation. Once you are into the wash I think you are out of luck for adding garments
