By latest "technology" if you mean, do you have to use the internet or WiFi, or a smart phone - from our experience to date - - NO. As for operating, the machine makes many decisions on settings for you (many you can adjust if you like). Once you select the type of items you're washing, it will use preselects which again, we've been able to adjust for the most part. I say most part, some possible choices are not selectable and we've not figured out how to override.

The matching dryer, DLE7300WE, has its own terminal block that must be connected to a separate 240 VAC, 60Htz, single-phase circuit, fused at 30 amperes. The circuit must be fused on both sides of the line. The SMART functions are connecting to Wi-Fi. The appliance supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks only. By connecting the units to your home network you can use the LG SmartThinQ application. The LG SmartThinQ application allows you to communicate with the appliance using a smartphone. ^Daphane
