“I like to soak my clothes in oxy clean for several hours. Can this be accomplished by pausing the machine and keeping the lid closed or will it drain the water after a certain amount of time? I don't understand why no machines these days have a long soak”

If the washer remains idle for 4 minutes after pausing the cycle, the water in the tub will drain. This cannot be changed. The soak option provides a 30-minute presoak prior to the start of the selected cycle. Use the Soak option to presoak garments to help remove difficult spots or stains on fabrics. At the end of the presoak time, the selected cycle will begin with the same water used for the soak.
