“I was playing ps4 and had the main screen up for a short time. When I turn it off to watch tv I could still see the ps4 home screen. Will this ruin the tv if this keeps happening? Is there a term to describe this?”

Luckily haven't encountered this, it's like a plasma condition burn in, latent image, ghosting, etc...not common, can happen on any left on too long static, if just a short time and doesn't disappear, leave the static white black scramble tv input for a bit, should clear it, if not, may be one of the defective boards I've read about.
