“Would I be able to use this tv with my 12 year old Pioneer Elite receiver which only has regular HD capabilities and probably Gen 1 or 2 HDMI connections? Are current and older HDMI connections usable with eachother (granted with some loss of quality)?”

All versions of HDMI are backward compatible with previous versions, as well as with DVI with the use of an adapter. Please note that a DVI connection passes video only, not audio. ^Daphane
