This is an Induction stove top, which means the bottom of your pots or pans have to be able to hold a magnet, if you have a fridge magnet place it to the bottom of your pot or pan, if it holds the magnet, then you should be good to go. Cast iron works really well with an Induction stove top. Hope this helps

If it’s older and most likely aluminum it won’t work. Correct material to engage the magnetic field that activates the heat is required
