Honestly, since this is a huge TV with a boomerang shape stand, you migh want to be real cautious of placing it on a stand. Most TV's this size should be mounted for safety purposes. In regards to it being able to turn left or right, most LG televisions come with that attribute, however Im not quite with the 8 series. Most Best Buys have this specific television on display so you can check at the store. However I TRULY recommend that you mount the television.
