“It is my understanding that the CX model has replaced the C9 for 2020. I’ve been reading reviews on this tv and really want to purchase it but the new CX model is actually $500 less. Am I missing something?”

This happens as last year's models start being in short supply and the manufacturer stats ramping up production on the new model. Unless a store is clearance the old model you will find this behavior every year until they run a sales on the old model when they try to clear their warehouse. TVs are not the same as cars interesting enough.
