“Can a pedestal still be used if I plan to stack the washer and dryer? My concern is the weight of putting two machines on the pedestal.”

• Short answer is....yes. But, why would want to? More than likely it would be too hard to pick it up that high and put on the washer. You would have to buy an extended hose for dryer, worse could you reach dryer controls afterwards?
