HDMI 2.1 cables are not necessary for connecting your DVD player or Cable set-top box to the monitor. While HDMI 2.1 cables are backward compatible and will work, they offer no performance advantages over older cables for standard DVD content. Standard High-Speed HDMI 2.0 cables are more than sufficient to handle the 4K/60Hz, HDR, and audio bandwidth requirements typically delivered by cable providers.
