I've been able to safely touch the light bulbs while they've been on for several hours. feels like a hot bowl of soup.
As for leaving them on when not at home: haven't had an issue yet

Granted I haven't touched them but they have never hurt me when I was resetting them. I wouldn't be afraid to leave them on. The mobile app is handy for if you forget to turn them off.

Yes. The base gets pretty hot after extended use. Manufacturer recommends not using enclosed housings for your light. Home kit only turns them off if you’ve programmed them to. Otherwise, they’re pretty safe. I own 10 of them. Ordering my next set.

No it doesn’t get hot. I leave it on from 4 am to 12 and have no issues.

If you mean Lifx bulbs, no it doesn't get that hot. I have scheduled the bulb and it's on its own even when I'm not home. I've been using it over 6 months now and no problem.

No they do not get hot and I don’t worry if I left them on. Besides, HomeKit turns them off when we leave.

They don’t get very hot at all. I leave them on a few hours every night, even if I’m not home. I have them set to go on/off at certain times every day. No issues with heat at all.
