Hello Chris, I myself purchased the Linksys EA8500 first as well but had many issues with it specifically with it throttling my speed right out of the box. I have read alot of reviews on that particular model and many issues have been reported pertaining to dropped signals and spontaneous reboots. I then purchased the Netgear 1900ac and have had no problems and good connectivity. I would definitely suggest returning that particular router and buying a new one. As for reaching the whole house I have 2200 square foot house and receive great signal upstairs and good downstairs as well as decent out side. Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I wanted to follow back up on this. I took Linksys up on their invite to contact LinksysCares via email. I had been dealing with their customer service and they had been friendly and helpful but had not solved the problem. I emailed [email protected] and they replied back within a day saying an advanced tech support rep would contact me after they had received my info. As planned I received a call and we briefly went back over the details of my situation. The rep asked me if I would be willing to try a change in settings and if that did not work, they would replace my router. The router was just under a year old, but out of warranty. I agreed and it did not work. I emailed her back and she called me within an hour and and stated they would send me a replacement. About 4 days later, I received a brand new replacement, not a refurbished model and returned the old router to them on their dime. I just wanted to reply because too often in reviews/comments sections all you see is people bashing a product. I had problems with my Linksys EA8500 and Linksys went above and beyond to take care of me and back their product. I had to go through some headaches to get there, but they offered the replacement. I didn't have to make demands or threaten in any way. Not often enough to companies get credit for doing the right thing! So regardless of whether you are looking at any Linksys router, don't hesitate wondering whether the company will back the product.
