• Yes. Netflix would not work on our 3rd floor until I got this extender. After that, it connected right away.

• There is no 'boost' at all and the repeater signal should be as good as the best place you find. This is an extender, so it just repeats what it can get. The more walls and ceilings it has to go thru and the router you have that its repeating from all are factors to make the signal as good as sitting near the router; or less. The RE should show you you signal quality at the place you pick. Read the instructions from the linksys web site. Pick a good spot. If it's not good enough try a better spot closer, adjust the antennas or get a better wifi router with better broadcast signal.
