Hello, Drg. You can connect an Ethernet cable to the Linksys RE6300 from your existing router, and place it in your desired area. Also, it is recommended to position it in between your router and the area that doesn't have a wireless connection.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It extends the signal it's receiving. If it's a weak signal where ever you plug the extender in, it is just going to extend that weak signal. No it is not plugged into your router. It connects you to the internet wirelessly through your wireless router. I have an older home without ethernet connections all over. I needed this to connect my older surround sound with a ethernet cable coming from the extender, plugged in upstairs (wireless router is downstairs). My surround doesn't have Wi-Fi. For equipment, hard wired is always best, not wireless. You might need a better modem and/or wireless router to begin with and even a booster instead of an extender, which will boost the weak signal and make it better, from my understanding. Actually I would start with the booster. Best Buy customer service people in that department are quite informative.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just plugged into an outlet. Super easy. Nice boost.
