Does this function like an ethernet cable? My computer has no built-in wifi and the old wifi to usb adapter I dug out doesn't work (which might be because it's from the mid 2000s). So does this adapter work with ethernet only computers? null

If you don't have a USB connector, you can't connect this item. If you do, and you have a CD/DVD drive, you can install the drivers and be good to go.
