“I bought a 3 pack of these about a year ago. Is it possible to buy 2 more and have them work with the existing 3 that I have? And, if the answer is yes, is the set up complicated? Also, how can I tell if my 3 are duel or tri-band?”

Yes, no, and not sure. They can be added easily, just make sure they are least 30 feet apart. Too close is not good, as mesh is powerful and the signal will get confused.

Setting up the additional nodes shouldn’t be complicated as it’s just like adding child nodes. Also, the tri-band node’s model number is WHW03 while the dual band is WHW01 (if purchased at Best Buy or on our website).
