Q: QuestionMy cable provider is Optimum (Cable Vision). I'm simply looking for a plug in extender that will work with what I have. From reading comments, sounds like I need to by a router and the same brand extender. Is that true?
Asked by disappointed.
- A:Answer This device will not work with your Optimum router. It is only designed to work with a Velop mesh network. Linksys sells other generic extenders that will work with your Optimum router. OR dump the rental Optimum router and build a better home wifi network of your own. While you're at it dump their rental modem and get your own. Unless they have packaged those rental devices, they are probably about $10 per month each FOR EVER. A better modem will cost 99 one time fee and you can get better routers for good prices that will give you great coverage. Best Buy has excellent return policy this time of year so go to the Velop website and see what they recommend for your home.
