“Is there any reason why this would not be compatible with a MiBox 4K ultra? I have returned one already because the letter "r" would not work, now the second one has the same problem. So I'm wondering if it is the keyboard or the box?”

That sounds like a problem I had with a computer once. The issue was that the configuration of the computer had a foreign language selected for the keyboard layout. ie: it should be set to US English. Other languages use the same key codes for different symbols. In my case the quote " character was switched with another key. You will need to find the keyboard settings on the MiBox 4K ultra (I am not familiar with what that is) to check this.

This will work with only certain Android and Android TV devices, but not all. Having a US Mi Box, I can attest that it's the box, not the keyboard. It's a finicky little device that works with only the things it chooses to.
