They are not backlit. It’s a spill-proof, dust-proof keyboard and kids can’t fidget with the keys and pull them off, thankfully. Some may not prefer this, but I think the feel of the keys when typing are really good. The workmanship feels good, not like some cheap keyboard product off of Amazon.
