The picture is very clear. The lights and siren can be turned off and on but the light is not very bright and the siren is not very loud. You can manually turn the lights and siren on from the mobile app. You can hear the siren when outside but not in the house. Very happy with the system and extremely easy to use. Pictures and mobile app is a bonus.
