“Is the ram upgradable in these units”

• Be careful at Best Buy. They seem to only sell the 8G model at this time. If you increase the RAM in the selection, it will automatically change the processor version. Other answers are correct about it not being user upgradeable. Can't get anything better than 8G at Best Buy right now.

• Unfortunately no, you can only choose the 8GB or 16GB version, the ram modules are integrated on the M1 chip.

• You cannot upgrade RAM in Mac Mini. Existing RAM is soldered in and there are no expansion slots. 8 gigs of RAM is sufficient unless you do video production, heavy photo touch up, etc.

• No, if you watch Apple’s presentation from 11/10/20 (available on their site) you can look at the motherboard and M1 chip package. What you buy is what you get, it’s all on a small board for the M1 mounted on the motherboard.
