It's very easy to do it WITHOUT A CABLE. Once you purchase you new MacBook, call Apple Support and ask them to help you with the Migration Feature which takes all of the settings, pictures, desktop and bookmarks from your old unit to the new MacBook Air. It's amazing and took less than an hour. Everything was transferred wirelessly with no cables required.
