Depends on the games that you are playing. Generally, the Mac laptops are not as ideal for gaming as Windows gaming laptops. However, this Mac is quite powerful, so if the child likes Macs and really only wants to play games like Minecraft, then it is okay. This is also good for video editing and the sorts if the child wants to get into that, which is a fun thing to do.

Gaming is not so much a easy answer. If you are referring to the high quality games on Xbox and Sony Playstation maybe not and again depends on the game.
My games I play are typically board games like Monopoly, Checkers, Solitaire and online games via FaceBook all of those work flawlessly. As for the high quality that demand a robust graphics card this might not be a good choice. If you are buying computer games you might want to look else where.
