What makes for the biggest determining factors are the speakers, the room size and your expectations. A small room with speakers with an easy load will mean less of a difference in performance between receivers. The bigger the room, the more space there is to fill with sound, and therefore the more power required. As you go further up our line of receivers, the more capable they are when the demands are greater.
