I found that you could work your way back up after falling behind.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have both the Wii U version (which I played online extensively since 2015) and the Switch version (which I just started playing in 2021). In my experience, the Wii U version plays better online. There is more strategic and tactical advantages mainly due to the 2nd screen on the Wii U gamepad. For example, you can glance down to the gamepad screen during gameplay to see which items each player has and adjust your play accordingly, You can't, of course, do that on the Switch version. Speaking strictly about online play, another big difference is the abundance of red and blue shells in the Switch version. There is just too many. If you're in first place you can expect to get hit with many, many red shells AND blue shells -- something that didn't happen too often on the Wii U version and that is guaranteed to frustrate veteran players. The Wii U version feels more balanced. You can actually get a good speed going for a while. On the Switch version it's constant chaos and stopping due to the overabundance of red shells and other items. It can be pretty annoying and, IMO, it detracts from the game. I'm still getting used to the Switch version but so far it's proving more frustrating than fun.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. In this case it is more like the Wii than the Wii U. I have both and the Wii U just wasn't that great control wise. In my opinion it is actually a notch up from the Wii.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Same as Wii
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Switch is just a normal game. The graphics are good and the game is challenging.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. At the higher cc difficulties, you can definitely experience the described fall in place as the bots pile on punishment. However, the lower cc's can be a tad "stale" by comparison.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Largely the same as the Wii U version, with improved framerate and new battle modes. If you weren't a fan of the Wii U iteration, this likely won't win you over.
