It has a 3-level "volume boost" which serves as kind of an in-line amp (as much as in-line can apply to a bluetooth signal). I use the Mee as a connection from wireless media devices to feed a wired stereo system, so i leave the Mee's volume boost on 1 and let the stereo amp handle real volume control. I haven't tested how effective the boost is going from a wired device like a TV to a wireless audio system though.
