If your phone can make a connection--even if it is one bar of WiFi, then the Eero can make a connection. With that said, not everything is always 100% reliable and the farther you go the slower the WiFi gets.

Please try again later.As long as the distance between each eero is 40 to 50 feet, the nodes can talk to each other using TrueMesh, however, keep in mind that your walls and other elements may interfere with the node to node connection. Keep the in the open and elevated and try setting it up.
