“I was told this will fit a double din so I ordered it but once the package made it to my home I looked at it and it doesn't seem like it can fit a double din?”

It will fit, use the side brackets and the side pieces, thin rectangles. There are two sets, use the ones that will fill the void in the dash. You won’t be using the biggest piece in the set, that is for a single.
