Thanks for checking! No, you do not need to cancel your Xbox Game Pass subscription. If you were already subscribing to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, then you now have 24 months of service in the bank. Or, if you were subscribing to Xbox Game Pass for Console, your membership has now been upgraded to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Once your 24 months of service has ended, your monthly subscription will resume.

I received my new Xbox x series’s with 24m game pass. The system recognized my user profile and started my 24 month game pass on 1/7 . So I think the driver is your user profile .
