The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 has a USB-C port and comes with a USB-C cable for a wired connection and/or charging.

Or i you want to take the worst one of the three and take it apart you can most likely find the replacement part needed and replace it. To answer your questions. It can be plugged in directly. * buy the warranty plan for $30 or whatever and you can bring it back near the end of the warranty to have exchanged when you eventually have the similar issues you currently have.
