“Is there any way to keep the keys from fading? I replaced my old "Microsoft" Ergo with this new one--noticed that the keys are simply "glued" on. Our tech guys used to ask me how I was able to use the board...I'm a typist, I KNOW where the keys are!”

I have the same problem- the letters are rubbed off within 6 months. I’ve tried clear nail polish, acrylic sealer, but nothing makes them last longer. I definitely would like a resolution to this!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Are your keys fading or being worn off? If wear is the problem I'd suggest a coating of clear laquer or nail polish. If fading is the problem is your lighting flourescent? That type of lighting has a fairly high UV content. My lighting is 2700-3000 K led & haven't had a problem. One thing I forgot in my review of the keyboard is the little bumps on the index finger keys is very small. I added a spot of UV cure glue to those keys & am much happier.

I am on my 3rd keyboard of this model & the reason for replacing is due to characters rubbing off the key’s. If I was having to pay for the keyboard myself I would be trying something different, but my company keeps buying this same model.

Please try again later.I am going on my fourth MS Ergo 4000 keyboard and I now believe the person who mentioned fluorescent lighting having a role in the keys fading may be onto something. I'm just realizing that the keyboard at my home computer has no fading at all; however, for the past 10+ years, I've replaced my work MS 4000 three times! Not because the key lettering wore off, but because after a few years, the day came when the keyboard went a bit "haywire!" - in every case, a time came when the normal letters assigned to each key became jumbled (e.g. when I typed "jumbled," the results read, "mnp||qd!!" I just made that up, but hopefully you catch my drift!) So WHY, you may ask, does KayO continue buying the same keyboard? The answer is easy! It is by far, in my opinion, the BEST ergonomic keyboard in the $0 to $60 price range! In fact, I was at another popular office supply store this past weekend, and I tried every display they had, ranging from about $35 to $189 [they did not have the MS 4000 in the store], and although I needed to quickly replace my last MS 4000, there was no way I was going to buy the loud, clunky and cheap-feeling keyboards on display! So I'm running to my local BestBuy right now to purchase the last remaining MS 4000 in stock!! I could care less if the letters fade! (The only ones I have trouble remembering are the < and > keys!! OH! By the way, you may ask why I'm running to snag the keyboard now....All I can say is once you've typed on an ergonomic keyboard, there's no going back to the "standard" keyboard that comes with a typical work computer. I feel like my fingers are smushed together - as if I'm typing on a Barbie-sized keyboard! LOL! I exaggerate, but some of you will know exactly what I mean!!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Keyboard stickers would be one solution. They are likely the cheapest and easiest option outside of keyboard replacement. However, stickers do remove themselves after a time as well. Ensure that the keyboard is as clean as possible before application. If possible, find someone that is good at sticker application.
