If you bought the single use version, as I did, it will only work on the one you initially installed it on. It is attached to the GUID on the specific computer it is first installed on. The only way around it is to call Microsoft and explain your situation and beg for mercy and help. In certain instances they will allow you to move it to another computer. I've not done this in several years, but in some instances they will allow you to reinstall it on another personal computer.

I was told by an employee at Best Buy that it will only work on one computer. I asked the same question about if it could be transferred to another computer if I bought a different one and he said no it could not be transferred.
