Yes to all of the above. As a a backup rule of mine it's best to save a copy of your files in case there is an issue with the software. Good luck!

It won’t override.. only thing it might do is maybe change the extension from a .doc to a .docx. But I have a Mac as well and just upgraded and had no issue.
